Bio
Natalie was born in Metro Detroit, Michigan and currently lives and works in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She’s currently pursuing a BFA with an emphasis in print media at Western Michigan University. She’s interested in exploring death, decay, and the circle of life through intricate pen drawings.
Artist Statement
In Natalie’s drawings and mixed media works, she explores the anxieties she has surrounding death, decay, and anxiety about the future and the dynamic relationship between humans and nature. She creates images and narratives of what she perceives to be both fleeting moments right before death and (possible) life after death depicted by the human figure, nature, and animals. She’s fascinated about the duality of animal and human life as they both exist together and die together in the world, as one. The paintings included are simple studies showing the appreciation of nature.
